Considering the current tectonic knowledge and stratigraphic information, significant improvements had been made to successively published paleogeographic reconstructions: Atlas Téthys (Dercourt et al., 1993) and Peri-Tethys (Dercourt et al., 2000) for example. Next to these, the reconstructions proposed by A. Wegener support comparison because, if he had not the process available today, his observations and his data were reproducible.
